Understanding the connection

A SIP trunk connects
your phone system over the internet.

This link carries your calls between your phone system and the connected services. It lets your Starleads agents join the phone set-up you already have.

The connection depends on your provider and your equipment. Starleads does not sell SIP trunks: your telecoms contract stays with your provider.

Connecting your compatible phone system is included from Pro. Call forwarding works from Starter.

Compatibility

A standard SIP trunk.
Your provider stays yours.

Starleads connects through a standard SIP trunk: SIP and RTP protocols, numbers in international format (with the + and the country code). You keep your provider and your numbers.

  • Providers: any provider that offers a SIP trunk. OVH Telecom, Twilio, Telnyx and Commeett are already connected or validated. You can connect several providers in parallel, with one trunk per provider.
  • Authentication: with credentials, or by IP address, with the Starleads addresses added to your provider’s allowlist.
  • Phone systems: any equipment that can open a SIP trunk to a third-party service. For example 3CX, Asterisk or FreePBX, Wildix, Alcatel OXO or OXE, Avaya, Cisco, or a cloud phone system that accepts your own provider.
  • Not compatible: older analogue or digital (TDM) phone systems without a SIP gateway.
  • Microsoft Teams: possible with Direct Routing, using an SBC (the device that connects Teams to your provider). The connection is assessed case by case.
Setting up

Your trunk connected,
in a few minutes on the Starleads side.

  1. Gather the settings from your provider or your telecoms installer: SIP domain, server address and port, credentials if needed, the format of your numbers (with the +, without it, or in national format) and their list.
  2. Have the Starleads IP addresses added to the allowlist of your provider or phone system. You find them in the Phone numbers tab, under SIP configuration.
  3. Fill in the trunk form in the same tab. The trunk is created automatically.
  4. Check its status: the registration status turns green.
  5. Test an inbound call and an outbound call. You call your number and hear a test message. Starleads checks that both calls go through.
  6. Go live: your numbers are linked to your AI agent and ready to use in your campaigns.
  7. If you wish, on the phone system side: route to Starleads the calls you want the agent to handle, with a routing rule or call forwarding. Your usual outbound calls don’t change.

Allow a few minutes on the Starleads side. The overall time depends mostly on your provider, especially for the allowlist.

Start with peace of mind

Your questions,
straight answers.

In short. A SIP trunk connects a phone system to other services over the internet. Once it is connected to Starleads, your AI agents answer and call from your numbers, then transfer to your extensions according to your instructions. Number import is included from Pro, at €239 excl.
